Girl Code Mentoring is a non-profit organization created for middle and high school girls ages 12-18. Our program seeks to build, encourage and inspire as many young girls as possible to become the best version of themselves. Myechia J. Hudson, Founder of Girl Code wants to make a difference within the community by providing young girls with the support and tools needed to maintain mental, emotional and social stability. We will provide intensive workshops to teach life skills as well as utilize evidence-based strategies to help the girls maintain healthy living.
Myechia a master's level social worker and mental health advocate, has worked as a school- based therapist in a variety of different schools, program therapist at a inpatient psychiatric unit with children and adolescents, and is currently a medical social worker in a hospital setting. She understands the impact of how having a mentor at a young age can help increase a child's overall success in life. Mentor (2018), "Mentoring has a profound impact on children’s health, education and the greater community. At its root, mentoring provides young people with a positive role model to connect with for personal, social and economic growth. Young adults who are at-risk that have a mentor are 130% more likely to hold a leadership position, 78% more likely to volunteer regularly, and 55% more likely to enroll in college "(https://www.mentoring.org/why-mentoring/mentoring-impact/) .
Myechia is very passionate about helping adolescents/teens succeed in life regardless of the obstacles they may face. We at Girl Code Mentoring, understand that it takes a village to help shape our youth into being productive individuals. We aim to walk alongside, empower and build up our girls to be the change agents needed within their family and community.
